National Conference on Reinventing Older Communities Planned for April in Philadelphia
The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia will present a three-day national conference -- Reinventing Older Communities (PDF) -- April 5 through 7 at the Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn's Landing. The conference is sponsored by a wide-ranging group that includes the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, the William Penn Foundation, the Brookings Institution's Metropolitan Policy Program, the Reinvestment Fund, and the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission. It will present "the latest thinking, strategies, and successes in creating vibrant communities." Attendees are expected to include "community developers, planners, government leaders, bankers, researchers, and funders" discussing issues such as "schools, the arts, parks, brownfields, displacement, foreclosures, community organizing, eminent domain, waterfront development, and other subjects." Registration is $300 before March 15 and $325 after.

Office of State Planning Coordination Takes On Census Data Center Role
The Office of State Planning Coordination has taken on the task of coordinating the Delaware Census State Data Center network. The Data Center network is a community of federal, state, local, academic and private sector partners working together to create, share, and disseminate demographic, economic and other data for Delaware. Office of State Planning Coordination to Move to Haslet Armory
A DataMIL map of the OSPC move.We're moving over the river and through a neighborhood. Starting February 14, 2006, the main offices of the Office of State Planning Coordination will be located in the newly refurbished Haslet Armory, at the corner of William Penn Street and Legislative Avenue. That's through the Capitol Green Neighborhood and across the St. Jones River from our current home in the Thomas Collins Building. Our new address will be 122 William Penn Street, Dover, DE, 19901. Our phone number and fax number will stay the same.

The Planning staff will be packing offices for much of the day on February 9 and 10, though the Office will remain open. On Monday, February 13, the physical moving is planned. On Tuesday, February 14, we'll be unpacking, stocking the shelves, plugging-in phones faxes and computers, and getting right back to work.

Agendas Posted for February PLUS Meetings
Agendas have been posted for the February 22 (PDF) and March 1 (PDF) meetings of the Delaware Preliminary Land Use Service (PLUS). Both PLUS meetings will start at 8:30 a.m. in Conference Room A, on the Third Floor of the Thomas Collins Building, on Route 13 in Dover. PLUS meetings are held each month to allow state agency planners to review and comment on projects submitted for review prior to their consideration by local governments, which have final approval authority. The PLUS meetings provide guidance to both developers and local government leaders regarding growth and development in Delaware.

New Reports from WILMAPCO
The Wilmington Area Planning Council (WILMAPCO) has published two new reports. WILMAPCO serves as the regional transportation planning agency for Cecil County, Maryland and New Castle County, Delaware. On January 12, the WILMAPCO Council adopted a 2005 Regional Progress Report, which summarizes efforts over the last year by WILMAPCO and its member agencies to meet the goals of the WILMAPCO Regional Transportation Plan. Meanwhile, WILMAPCO has just published WILMAPCO DATA REPORT #4: Regional Population & Household Changes, 2000-2030 (PDF). This is one of a series of data reports designed to collect demographic and transportation data for the region served by WILMAPCO.
