Delaware Spatial Data Implementation Team to Meet on May 9
The Delaware Spatial Data Implementation Team (I-Team) will meet at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 9, in Conference Room A of the State Budget Office, in the Thomas Collins Building at 540 S. DuPont Highway in Dover. The I-Team, created by Executive Order to oversee Delaware's digital base-map, is expected to discuss data needed to support enhanced 911 mapping, orthophotography and elevation data projects, and local, state and regional GIS Coordination efforts. State Planning Coordinator Offers Update on Annexation
State Planning Coordinator Connie Holland has published an update on possible annexation legislation. In her PERSPECTIVE column, Annex in balance statewide, in the News Journal on April 24, 2005, Ms. Holland discusses the successes that have come from the existing comprehensive planning partnership among the state, county and municipal governments looks forward to continued cooperation.

Public Workshops Planned for C&D Canal Recreation Study
A pair of public workshops have been scheduled by the C&D Canal Recreation Study Working Group to gather input for a study of potential recreational opportunities and infrastructure improvements along the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. The workshops are set for April 25, at Gunning Bedford Middle School in Delaware, and April 26, at Bohemia Manor High School in Maryland. The study is an outgrowth of ideas developed in the Delaware Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (PDF) and the Cecil County Land Preservation, Parks, and Recreation Plan (PDF).

Walkable Community Workshops Planned Throughout Delaware
A series of eight Walkable Community Workshops has been planned for April in all three Delaware counties. The workshops, sponsored by the Dover/Kent County Metropolitan Planning Organization, the Wilmington Area Planning Council (WILMAPCO), and the Sussex County Department of Planning and Zoning, will focus on making communities safer and easier to walk in. Each workshop will include presentations and a walking tour to highlight issues, ideas, and opportunities. Workshops are planned in Sussex County on April 18, in Kent County on April 19 and April 20, and in New Castle County on April 21 and April 22.

Agendas Posted for April PLUS Meetings
Agendas have been posted for the April 27 (PDF) and May 4 (PDF) Preliminary Land Use Service (PLUS) meetings. The meetings will allow state reviewers to meet directly with applicants who have proposed land use changes needing state comment and review prior to consideration by local governments. Both meetings will start at 8:30 a.m., in the Third Floor Conference Room of the Thomas Collins Building, in Dover. The list of PLUS projects to be reviewed in April 2005 is posted as part of the PLUS section of this web site.
