DELAWARE MUNICIPAL ANNEXATION AREAS

The Delaware Office of State Planning Coordination maintains a statewide GIS data set of the future annexation areas of Delaware's incorporated towns and cities as shown in their certified comprehensive plans.

The data set (delaware_municipal_annexation_areas.zip) was developed using GIS data sets from municipal governments and from contractors working with municipalities, as well as printed and PDF copies of adopted future growth and annexation area plan maps. It includes areas of short term and long term annexation interest, areas of concern to municipalities, and areas of joint concern or joint annexation interest.

This data file is not intended to be used as a definitive or legal boundary for any annexation plans for a municipality. This data is intended to be used as a descriptive planning tool. It may be the case that present municipal boundaries overlap or completely over-lay the annexation areas shown. This reflects areas in which municipalities have annexed areas identified in their comprehensive plan in the time since that plan was approved.
