2002 LAND USE/LAND COVER DATA
NOTE: This data set has been updated with a 2007 Land Use/Land Cover data set.
2002 LULC Data -- 2002_delaware_lulc.zip
The data set is presented as a statewide shapefile, ZIPPED together with metadata files in both HTML and XML format. The data set is in the Delaware State Plane Coordinate System, using the North American Datum of 1983, in meters. Land uses are coded using the Anderson et al Land Classification System. A more detailed paper (PDF) on the Anderson System is availanble from the USGS.
Symbology
A suggested Land Use/Land Cover symbology has been prepared to bridge the gap between the traditional "planner" colors, which symbolize land uses, and other symbology schemes which symbolize land cover. Delaware's Land Use/Land Cover data set is itself a hybrid and so needs a hybrid symbology.
