Ships Tavern Mews, located along Market Street in Wilmington, is part of the six-block historic Ships Tavern District that is being redeveloped to better connect the downtown with the Christina Riverfront. This project was developed over five years by Struever Brothers Eccles, & Rouse Inc. of Baltimore and is comprised of ground floor retail with residential above. The retail includes cafes, galleries, fast/fresh carryout and home furnishings and design stores. There are 86 rental units, of which 36 units are affordable for low- and moderate-income households. In 2005, the National Trust for Historic Preservation awarded Ship Tavern Mews a National Preservation Award.
